Greetings
A greeting is a prompt Loca runs for you when the app comes up, so you open to something useful instead of a blank session. Where a scheduled prompt fires on a clock, a greeting fires when you arrive: on launch, and optionally each time you bring the window back from hidden. That makes it the right tool for whatever you want to see first: a summary of the day ahead, an overnight digest, a reminder of where you left off.
Configuring greetings
Turn greetings on under Greetings in Settings and choose when they fire. You can greet only when Loca opens itself at login, on every launch, or every time the window is shown, so a greeting can stay a once-a-day event or meet you each time you call the window up with a shortcut. A cooldown sets the least time between greetings, so bringing the window back twice in quick succession still greets you at most once.
You set the instruction Loca follows and the title its session takes, with the current date and time filled in for you, so a greeting can say “what is on for today” and mean the actual today. The result is an ordinary session: you read it, reply, and carry on from there.
How It Works
A greeting lives on the Client, because the Client is what knows when the app has come up. On launch, and on each window reveal when you have chosen to greet then, once it is connected to a Core the Client checks whether greetings are on and whether this moment matches your trigger, then sends your greeting text as the opening message of a fresh session. It holds to your cooldown, so a burst of shows cannot open a burst of sessions. The date and time are substituted into that text right before it is sent, so the model receives the real moment rather than a placeholder. From the Core’s side it is an ordinary turn, which is why a greeting can do anything a normal message can, including reaching for tools and memories.
Next, a prompt that runs on a clock rather than at launch: Scheduled Prompts.
